Is this bread? Technically yes, but what a bread it is, rich and smooth, this is perfect for any sandwich that suits your fancy. Easy to make and good looking, you need this bread in your life!
Bread
1 cup warm water
¼ cup warm milk
4½ Tsp yeast
2 Tbsp. sugar
1½ tsp salt
1 egg
4 cups flour
2 tbsp. butter (room temperature)
Egg Wash
1 egg
1 tbsp. milk
Combine water, milk, sugar, and yeast in the bowl of a stand mixer. Let proof for 5-10 minutes.
After proofing add salt and egg to the yeast mixture. Use paddle attachment to mix at low speed.
Add flour and continue to mix at low speed until combined, then add the butter.
Switch to the dough hook and knead at medium speed for 8 minutes
Transfer the dough to a flat surface, you may need to use some flour with it as it should be a bit tacky.
Form 12 buns and place them on parchment lined baking sheets.
Cover the sheets with a cloth and put aside to allow rise, 60-90 minutes.
Once buns have risen to desired size preheat oven to 400 degrees
combine remaining egg and tablespoon of milk and brush the tops of the buns
Optionally, after brushing buns sprinkle with sesame seeds
Bake buns for about 15 minutes
